Private Teaching Services
I offer private lessons and tutoring in several different areas of focus. I have taught lessons on saxophone, clarinet, and bassoon for nine years, and I also offer lessons in composition and tutoring in music theory. My Story
My journey as a music teacher began while I was still in high school, offering lessons to younger students at the school and through my father's studio. I continued teaching through my undergrad in various mediums including studios around Jacksonville, FL, virtual teaching, and in-home lessons. The need for a bassoonist in the programs in which I participated during my undergraduate degree allowed for me to expand my teaching services to bassoon lessons as well after it became my primary instrument.

The students that join my studio display remarkable achievement in performance and music theory, and achieve an advanced level of listening and comprehension in musical works. Many students have participated have been admitted to All-State and All-County band programs and achieve high marks in evaluations of solo performances and examinations on musical knowledge.

My philosophy of teaching is one of teacher-led student discovery. This means that while direct instruction is certainly a primary feature of the lessons I offer, more nuanced understanding of technical and musical aspects of performance come from the teacher asking the students detailed questions about what they alter in their playing throughout the lesson. Students are encouraged to use and synthesize the knowledge they have learned in previous lessons to arrive at conclusions about what they need to fix in their playing or what they need to understand from a theoretical standpoint. While correction is absolutely given if necessary, this allows students to evaluate themselves and leads to more productive practice and studies outside of the lesson.
